End-Fed Dipole UJM-EFHW-80-10

So far, I'm really liking this end fed. It's just to darned convenient. I'm going to work on getting it higher. I think my next project is to build a 40 meter vertical. So far, for 11 meters I have a dipole at 25'. It does OK. I'm able to talk to the locals, which is fine for now.

Once I figure out which room in the house will be my shack, I'll likely have 10' of coax running to another end fed.

Always wanted a big loop up. Maybe one of these days.
At a previous home had a 160 M loop, 560+ feet at around 100 Ft. Worked like "gangbusters!" 100 watts and better reports than guys running 2-3 times that. Now I'm living in senior housing. Might as well be a cave!

That's hard giving that up. When I lived at my previous house in town, I wanted to put a remote station at my sister's house. Maybe you could do that one day.

I'm not being picky or critical Mudfoot,,,,,
But an EFHW wire antenna is not a dipole.......as you may know
A dipole is defined as a radiator having two high current points and two high voltage points which an EFHW has at its half-wavelength design frequency. So it is a dipole on some band. The elements don't have to be separate. So you're not wrong Mudfoot.

Our local club seems to love the Palomar EFHW for field day. Multi band and easy to put in the air to get ON the air. I have been running a Balun Designs 9:1 unun and random wire with good multi-band luck, but really need it to be higher in the air. Does ok for NVIS on 40 and 80 though.

Also running a 40 meter loop that plays multiple bands with a 4:1 balun, also from Balun Designs, and it works really well.

To me, the end feds are super convenient with easy installation, shorter coax runs, and multi band performance. Hope you enjoy yours!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes

Wes, it's better if you start a thread on the main forum, more people are going to see your question.
