Extra Channel Kits?

When I had a Uniden Grant XL I went to a radio shop and bought an extra channel kit that took the radio to 40 'channels' above and below the CB band....

What I am wondering is...are these 'channel kits' still made and are they offered for sale? if so who still offers these for sale?

Im getting a Grant XL tricked out right now. Channels, variable power, RX/TX allined, freq counter added, yada,yada,yada. Have two stock ones so going to compare. The others will remain stock im sure.

The expo kits are no longer made so whatever is out there is NOS. If you don't want to jump the channels off the chip a Viagra board might work.

Do you know how to do this without the expansion board? The Grant XL is the same mod as the 148GTL. You can do this by stealing two switches on the radio or adding two of your own. Then you do this:

Locate the MB8719 chip (usually right behind the channel selector). Wire a single-pole, single-throw switch from pin 10 to ground (SW-2 on the attached channel chart), and the other switch from pin 11 to pin 12 (SW-1 on the attached channel chart).

That's all there is to it.

Heyya moleculo !!

I knew that the Grant and the 148 shared the same board,but what I didnt know was the fact that you could get almost the same expansion from just installing the switch that you have posted and adding the kit as I asked about,from what I have read concerning the kit,the switch that you have posted in the long run seems that it will be more stable...this was something that I did not realize and I will take this into concideration the next time I get a radio of this type
