Had one, hated to get rid of it. Loved all the features best talkback I've ever heard awsome echo great receive ext. Didn't like it in the mobile could get rid of egine noice anyone who had one had same problem. If they made it into a base I would buy one no dought.

Could someone please post whether or not this radio is worth the money? Considering buying one, but I don't know anyone who has/had one. I do know that they (Magnum) have come out with a power cord that includes in inline noise filter to help with engine noise coming thru the radio. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I borrowed one of these for a while to try it out and it is a truly awesome rig (what else could it be coming from Magnum?) The one I was using had an EXTREAM RX section, sensetive as all get out,to the point of allowing a small amount of bleed to come through when surrounded, but not a big issiue at all. I had the same problem with engine noise in my T-800 (a relativly quiet electrical system) untill I added a chassis ground to the case (possible parasitic conditions internally?) that plus a Galaxy noise filter harness did the trick.

Got to love that turbo echo!

Noise blanker very effective on ground noise.

It makes a truly excelent base station as well, there is one here in Vegas I hear often,he uses a silver eagle mic with it and it has a realy "razor sharp" audio quality to it,crisp and clean.

A great addition to the collection I.M.H.O.

I don't know much about this radio other than it seems to be very easy to overmodulate the thing, causing it to sound like azz on AM.

A buddy of mine has one of these radios and either the limiter is clipped or he has the power-mic gain set WAY too high.

I would suggest not boogering it up by clipping the mod limiter if you get one of these very nice looking rigs.

The Delta is my favorite radio to date.

The later models have corrected alot of the earlier bugs such as excessive noise and bleed.

What fuzz said is correct, these radios will easily overmodulate if not tuned correctly. The stock mike is a power mike, there's the AMC adjustment in the radio, and a master gain for audio sensitivity. I strongly recommend not cutting the limiter, and getting someone to tune it correctly and you will get many compliments of how it sounds.

The stock mike tends to be a bit bassy, I like running a D104 on mine. In 20yrs I've never received as many compliments as I have with this radio.

I gave my 99V away after hearing from everyone how much better my stock DF was. Comments from 30+ miles saying it is the loudest mobile they'd heard - seasoned radio hobbyists, at that!

There are actually three adjustments for audio in the DF: 1 on the main board, 1 on the echo board, and 1 inside the mic. I set mine for 80% mod @ half mic gain setting and lowered my deadkey to 3W.

The only problem I've had is the talkback stopped once - a loose connection @ the echo board.

GREAT RIG!!!!!

Currently I'm using a junker mike with a HC-5 Heil element in it with my Alpha Force...sounds pretty damn good.

i love mine! i got the earlier model from bills 2-way.it is a

"noisy" rig in mobile applications.simply fantastic as a base!

very durable too.here's my case & point to that;

1-shoved 28VDC down her throat once!(accidently,w/homebrew supply set wrong)

2-hooked up battery supply backwards(no poof)

3-keyed up,several times,w/no antenna.

all this was done when i was setting it up to use in the pop-up camper! to excited, too big a hurry, just plain brainfartin'!!!!

to this day there has been "NO SIGN" of damage,of any

kind and she is still kickin' *ss and takin' numbers! if it will

"accept" this kind of (accidental) abuse w/no apparent

damage,i think i'll keep her around a long time to come!!!

i wonder if they still offer the "upgrade" kit for these older

models,as i have? may have to call & see!! SLIM-CDX285

The "2002" versions are not like that anymore.

I don't care how many buttons I have to push to be the best sounding station on the air <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">
