What kind of antenna are you using? Do you have it hooked to an external antenna?

Yes sir so right now just using the attached telescoping antenna
My wife bought me this for ten bucks but at first I was discouraged I couldn't get any besides AM and FM

So I saw this

Wasn't sure what would fit so I ordered a push in (Motorola?) type antenna

But it didn't really fit

If you have the opportunity. hooking up to an external outdoor antenna will increase your receive a great deal. Not trying to get you into a big time project. I have a scanner running in the house. I ended up with an extra antenna- I had bought Workman Saturn B-100- 39 inch, no ground plane CB antenna, to try to set up a CB for a mobile home. Anyway, just because I had the Saturn B-100 laying around I used it as a receive only antenna for my scanner. All of the local channels are 155-157 MHz VHF for police, EMS, Fire. I was totally surprised as to the improvement in receive, over the attached telescoping antenna. I can pick up about my local county dispatch and mobiles. I pick up local Aeromedical helicopters. just with parts I had laying around it made the scanner a lot more enjoyable. It was a Radio Shack PRO 2001 from early 1980s.

Btw so I was still listening to the program in the second video. there was a brief "station identification" that came on didn't quite get the call sign but it said "repeater serving the Beaumont Texas (where I am) area"
