For the FMU-250K and other Uniden Lowband, VHF, and UHF mobile radios using the dual 7 segment display.

The displays in these radios fail, and usually just a couple of segments burn out. There is a replacement display available from Mouser or Digikey made by Lumex or Kingbright for less than $5.00.

The original display is green, and the replacement part number in Lumex is LDD-A402NI. A yellow one is LDD-A403NI. They are also available in red (LDD-A404NI) or super red (LDD-A406NI) which can be an advantage in bright lighting/daytime situations. Kingbright part number is DA04-11UWA for yellow, also available in Red (DA04-11EWA) and Blue (DA04-11PBWA/A). I prefer the yellow Lumex, as it is very visible once installed.

When replacing the display the new one will actually be mounted upside down with the decimal points on the top, and the old display should be removed by cutting the leads right near the body of the display, leaving all of the long part of the leads attached! to the PC board to accomadate and bridge the gap to the new display whose leads are usually short. The leads can then be soldered together.
