Has anyone played around with any of these radios?

I have used them as race track communications (frs w/2mile range). Rate 1 to 10 as about a 6 or 7. Better than CB hand helds and can use a lapel speaker/mic. I currently have FRS/GMRS 5 mile radios that my wife and I use when we go traveling to keep in touch...

If you are by yourself you can set one up to recieve near the mic of your main rig and have your main rig set to VOX, go out in the area you want to check and key up the FRS radio which will key your main rig via VOX and get your readings.

I have a pair of Uniden GMR635-2CK hand helds, GMRS/FRS and they work well for short range Coms. Small, simple to use, rechargeable NI-MH batt-packs/w charger...no offsets, but that is fine for what we use them for, trips, car to car etc. They are good little radios for the price.

I have an old pair of cobras that work good. Ive talked far on those. My friend bought some unidens and they were the worst radios ever! Could not even talk 3 city blocks for crap. This was on GMRS and thats more wattage than FRS. Well maybe it was 4 blocks but it was less than a 1/4 mile.
