Anyone successful in the soft jumper MARS/CAP mod on the Yaesu FT-897D. I tried last night, but no go. I will double check my connections, but I think I have the cable in the correct ports. I'm using the Yaesu USB CT-62 CAT Interface cable. Maybe I'm using the wrong port on the radio. I'm running HRD with the cable interface, and no problems with HRD (which is a cool program).
Input please.

Thank you!

I did an 857, it's not too bad, but borrow something with a very fine tip. The typical $15 iron isn't a good plan for doing it. It's removing maybe one pad and bridging pads at two other points ...check on mods.dk or similar, there are instructions around.

To remove the one or two smd pads, simply put the tip of the iron right smack on top of the pack, when the solder flows, poke it aside or hit it with a desoldering wick.

For the bridging, I just took a toothpick and made a dash line of flux paste and just dragged solder across for the bridge.

Check your work with a magnifier before you power it back up again.

I will not be there but hopefully by the end of this month I will have my New tower and antennas back in the air including my M2 6M5X. The old tower and all of my antennas came down in October 2023 during a Hurricane.
