I've heard of mylar caps getting fuzzy and cracking, first time I've ever seen it for myself:

Parts are now on order.

Just in case you were wondering:

It'll get recapped, of course, and a new power cord. I'm not comfy with the 4" pigtail hanging off the back.

Got 'em out.

The smaller one's case was already cracked, the pliers grabbing it to fish it out of the radio was the final straw.

Waiting on some 1 uF electrolytics to finish recapping, then I'll turn the radio on and see if any parts are sending smoke signals.

It's later. Started walking through the alignment to discover that there's no TX audio. Noticed the ground for the compressor board looked corroded. Cut it and resoldered, no go.

Worst case it would be the SL1626C chip. So, of course, it was. Lucky for me the TRC-448 I never fixed the chopped out mode switch on has the same chip. Swapped it out, audio is restored.

I now have a working Sidebander V. And it seems to work very well.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
