Ya this is what I did the first time. It seemed to work well. Then I saw the mod that Northstar listed and tried it. Thats when I ran into trouble. It'll get alinged correctly at FG and then if it was like it was at first I will adjust L8 coil back down again and this time just be happy!!!
Thanks Justin for letting me know. I know you aren't there as much and didn't request you. How do like my work? Don't answer that...please! I am again happy that you did the work. Gotta to tell ya that trying to unsolder that coil was difficult for me as you could see. Must of stared at the board for an half hour before I figured out which pins would release the coil. And even then it was a shoot in the dark! What would have been the proper procedure to lower the noise floor a bit?
Just got the radio back from Justin at FG best. Man I got to tell you that this man really know his business, He said that he did a few componant swaps. The noise floor has been greatly reduced almost non existant. Low db recieve signals are much easier to understand know and I get no interference from power lines of street lights like before ( 5 to 7 S units of static ) When the skip is quiet I can actually drive around with the recieve all the way open. I have noticed no less performance from the reciever either. All the local bases hit me the same and I hear the truckers across town at the same level. This was NOT. the Mofset mod.
I highly recommend this mod. Very peacfull again!!
Thanks agin Justin for going the xtra mile for me. He did this mod unasked, he know I wasn't happy with the situation hence the reason the radio was sent to him in the first place ( to correct my mis attempts do try some mods myself)
Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
