I have had this radio for almost 1 year. It has been a good radio. It has developed a problem.
Recently I left the radio turned on for several log hours in my truck. The windows were rolled up and it was a hot day.
On the way home that afternoon, I was talking to my friend on SSB and I noticed that I was having to turn the volume way up to hear him, until the volume was wide open and I could just barely hear him.
I put the radio on my bench in the house. Next morning, all was back to normal. I used the radio this way for awhile to check it out and it operated just fine.
One day the DX was rolling good, so I joined in, after about 10 ~ 15 minutes of DXing, I noticed the receive audio was decreasing , so I turned the volume up. I finally had the volume all the way open and could barely hear anything. This is on SSB mode, upper or lower.
I put the radio in AM mode, and all my receive audio came back and I had to turn the volume back down to normal level on the knob.
I switched back to SSB mode and immediately lost the receive audio again.
Something in SSB mode receive audio gets weak after the radio gets warmed up while transmitting.
If I do not transmit in SSB, the receive audio does not ever decrease.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
