Grant XL output on ssb but not am?

It sounds like a problem with the AM voltage regulators/control circuit, check theses parts for failures:



Q503 - 2sd1135C (most likely) this (from memory) is bolted to the chassis separately.

Q42 - 2sc945 (fairly likely)

VR10 - 5KOhm

D63 - 1N4148

D64 - ?

C173 - 10uF50V ?

[Pac Ratt]

busted, i have searched high and low for the problem but have no idea what has happened... the radio works fine except on am. it has no output on am... ssb works fine... any ideas? and if you have a idea please tell me how to verify. i have a volt meter, watt meter and such... covers are off waiting for the fix...

I may be wrong, but I think the older versions front panel was more square, the current ones have the corners nicely rounded and tapered, I am pretty sure the older ones retained the boxy front panel design.
