I have an opportunity to buy either @ $45 - $50 with condition & lack of mods equal. Ignoring all other considerations please help me make a decision on strictly the "factual" merits of each. Used to think I preferred LT because it's newer, backlighting of controls, front mic, but after researching maybe it's not the radio an XL is?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Either radio is fine. I would go with the older one; provided it isn't too old. Then, capacitors become iffy. Either one will deliver the same performance. For $50, you can't really go wrong either way.
