Currently i have a radio shack radio with side band, i want to know if i could add more channels to it or what can i do to it..?

I had a rat shack TRC-458. I was going to have someone install the extra channels in it but it would cost more that $100 to do it. So with that 100 i bought a new radio with extra channels. Was definantly worth it!
