Hi Everyone! 73's from El Paso,Texas!!

Last weekend went to the garage sale and got a Galaxy Dx-979 for $25 buckaroos only with the S-meter cover cracked (i wonder if the prev user got mad at it:headbang)probably just mishandled, other than that was in great shape, in and out,not modded or expanded, it fitted like a glove in the center dash of the car .
I am looking forward to expand all channels possible in this compact AM-SSB rig and did some browsing info on the web...found nothing but this:
Galaxy Radios DX979 Service Manual
Since i noticed it had the RCI8719 PLL, i figured the mod was as easy as cutting P5 & P6 on the Texas Ranger 966 or as typical MB8719 procedures....but nothing like the mentioned link, it also does not show the switching positions to get the normal CB band 1-40.

My question is:
Does anyone know any other mod to get at least upper channels?
If not, I would appreciate just to check the Link and give me your advice on going for it and how i would get the normal cb band with that mod.

Thanks,Happy Holidays!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes

Wes, it's better if you start a thread on the main forum, more people are going to see your question.
