It’s a little unfair to compare the 2. I’ve been using a TS50 since they came out. I think the TX audio is better on the Kenwood. And you can program 4 functions to use the 4 buttons on the mike. The only thing I wish my 50 had was a built in speech processor.



The ICOM gives you 6 and 2 meters in the same box. Not sure how easy it is to change things while on the move.

I really like the features of the Icom but I hear that the Kenwood would make a better mobile rig ( the way I will be using it ) because of the ease of using it while on the move. Also I was wondering if the Kenwood, or Yaesu for that matter, can be mars/cap converted like the Icom? Thanx for the info in advance.

R&L Electronics in Hamilton OH has them both. The TS50 for 679.95 and the Icom 706 for 814.95. Hope this helps.
