ICOM IC-2820

i wish someone else would get of their collective arse, and start moving radio foward as far as the amatuer market goes besides icom. if anything it will help to bring prices down. now it's still sit and wait, one thing i have learned is NEVER buy 1rst (beta tester)production run.

rfoverlord,
Having been an inadvertent 'beta tester' once or twice, I hope never to do it again! Having said that, I really do like the idea of this radio. Umm, not too happy with the price of the whole thing, but... oh well.
I'm more of a Kenwood type fan. I sort of understand their 'idea'/method/philosophy behind the 'programing', just sort of 'makes sense'. I'm not familiar with Icom's, and why anyone in their 'right' mind understands/likes Yaesu's programing, I'll never know (another one of those 'ho-hums'). Maybe I'll live long enough so the price will come down...

Doc,
I know what you mean. My first mobile rig was the kenwood tm-733. it was out for 3 days and i drove down to AES to get it with a remote kit, big money. It use to crash a lot or lock up 3 months after the warranty expired it froze up solid so i sent it to kenwood for repair. it took a month but they sent it back for the cost of the shipping with a new cpu (they even sent the old one back with it) i had it for a few more years and sold it. long story short i had a yaesu 8100 that was less than favorable that i ended up trading back for my old kenwood which i still have on my base today. I like kenwood i have a yaesu 8800 right now that has been repaired already, it will go to the xyl when she finally takes her test next month. So I am Shopping.
73, mike

Oh really! I just happen to have this Yaesu FT-7800, remote dual bander... might even throw in the antenna... ah... naw, forget it, you've / she's got better sense than that.
