Is my powered speaker stealing TX power?

I have my cb radio connected to the same plug as it's amplified speaker (1-into-two cigarette plug). I know that the transmit/receive power draws are supposed to be seperate, but when I transmit: the speaker light comes on...and I can hear my voice faintly coming over the speaker. No doubt this is due to direct signal from the roof antenna to the speaker, but am I stealing power from the transmit? The speaker is 8 watts and the cb is much less.

In a word, No.
You are getting rf into the amp of the speaker. You can try putting a cap accross the power leads at the amp and maybe one on the speaker terminals inside the case.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
