If you had $200 laying around doing nothing, and you wanted a 2 meter FM rig, would you go for the Kenwood TM 271-A or Icom IC-2200H.

eham.net rates them the same......

I am sooooo confused. lol

Howdy,

First up...don't need $200. I believe the Icom is only like $159 or a little less. Try HRO.

I'm all Icom here and have one of these in my truck. Great rig with no problems. Ridiculously easy to modify and you'll have the whole range, 136~174 mhz to transmit with, which will make the 5 MURS VHF channels ready for your use.

Have no experience with any modern Kenwoods but they usually cost more for no good reason other than the Kenwood name.

For around $205 I think you can get the Icom V8000 2 meter and have 75 watts and a front firing speaker.

The Weasel says: Go Icom!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
