Kenwood TS-2000 opinions?

Looking primarily for a 50w + all mode 6M-440 rig. Decient HF would be good also.(I'll keep my FT-990 if needed) The TS-2000 looks like the better rig between it and the Yaesu FT-847. I wish The Icom IC-910 had 6M's as it's a awesome 2M-440 rig. Anyone using a 847 or 2000? Whats your opinion?

I have an 847 and I love it! I got it when they were around 1200 bucks, they seem higher most places now. I have the Collins mechanical filters for SSB, they make a big difference. I think Happy Hamer has a TS-2000, he told me he likes it alot.

Before I bought my Icom 746 Pro, I went to HRO and talked to the guys there about the Kenwood TS-2000. None of them really liked the Kenwood. They said the DSP sucked compared to Icom's. No Band Scope, either. I don't remember everything else they said, but I was convinced to go with the Icom. Kind've funny, too...the HRO guys could've made a few hundred more bucks off of me by selling me the Kenwood.

After compareing the spec.s and features and reading reviews at ARRL and E-ham along with the yahoo groups, The Kenwood blows the Yaesu out of the water. Looks like I know what the new toy is going to be, <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> The spec.s on HF are not as good as my FT-990 but not to far under a Icom IC-756pro. I'll do some A/B comparisons and if the 2000 is "close enough" I may put the 990 up for sale.

The 746 is nice. Wish they would add 440 and 1.2 option to it. I can't afford the 1.2 right now but who knows...Maybe in the future. 1.2 is starting to become active around here.

I have the TS-2000, it is a great radio, I used the FT847 for a month and I could not keep it, I love the dual rx on the TS2000 plus 100 watts up to 2 meter and 50 on 440. I have not found any problems with the DSP on my radio. I know sometimes shops will get a "KICK BACK" from one manufacturer and not the other so even though they can sell the other for more they get a nice kick back from the cheaper one.

I had problems pushing myself to buy the ICOM 746PRO seeing the reviews that about 6 out of every 10 radios were failing and had to go back to ICOM.

If you have specific questions just ask I can try to answer them about the TS-2000.

My opinion is to go for the TS-2000 it has alot of features the other dont have
