Kenwood TS-440S/AT

I am looking for another HF radio after my Kenwood Ts-50 was hit by lighting while in the car! I have a long wire antenna, and now looking for a HF radio to hook it it <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=""> . I have been looking at a Kenwood TS-440S/AT with the automatic tuner in it. I can get it for $400. Has anyone had any experience with these radios? Thanks

seawolf,i've had mine for about 1 1/2 yrs now and really like it. my biggest complaint is the RX is a lil noisy(white noise).

she's all i use for DXin and usually have no problem making

contact with anyone i hear.

one thing to look for in the 440 is the keypad may have

double strokes when pressed.hit it once and it will strike

(contact) twice! mine doesn't do this (yet) and i hope to God it

never starts! what kind of condition is the one you're lookin at in? $400 may be just a lil high depending on that.if she's

in good to great condition (8-10) then i'd say go for it.otherwise

i'd try a lil bargaining w/the seller.
