Re: Thanks 821

Greg, while your advice to send it to a real tech instead of hacking on it yourself is worthwhile, you don't have to be a jerk about it. This forum is about helping people interested in the hobby, even when they screw up.

It's not a real good idea to be a newbie on a forum and immediately give everyone the impression that your a real ass..... especially when you're trying to drum up business.

BTW, how are we supposed to know that the 11m mod you do isn't like that $100 rip off you charge for the 10 minute D104 mod that is widely published?

Re: Thanks 821

Today I just read this thread and first let me say that

I invited Greg here, and that he indeed is a fine Gentleman.

Its obvious to me that this post by the foot777 who cant

speak in the language that we all were taught in school

was a put up deal to intimidate and aggravate someone who

has good intentions, and Is allowed to mention his place of

business and the quality of work he preforms.

I have in fact had my radio done up by him and am very well

satisfied that I got what I paid for. I wonder how many of

you are aware that there are three different tubes available for

this radio, and how many are wondering how come you only

are getting 50 watts out of it at 11 Meters and so on and on

as to the little things.

Did you receive a full alignment and cleaning of bandswitches

and other needed modifications.

Mine is doing 195 pep Bird watts and puts out same power

on 10 meters as on 40 meters. You get what you pay for as we

all know, and should know there are not any free lunches.

Greg nor Docs, give their work away and shouldn't be expect

to do that..

BTW, some seem to think this is Their Forum and I beg to

disagree. How much in dollars have you contributed to it ??

As for another tech. that doesn't charge as much for his work I see no relation in that at all.

This other tech. will not even disclose what he does

for the money that you spend, other than to say he will make

it do its thing.

That said, I talk to Docs every day on the chat room and I

respect that the way he does it. Send me your money and you will like it.

I bet if he posted that here that some flack would arise from

that no doubt, and that the reason he is probley smart enough not to do any posting on this forum.....

I have been known to butcher a few radios in the learning

process myself, HOWEVER I have a hell of lot more respect

for the Old,Fine,Radios like the now hard to find and get in

excellent condition radios, like the Kenwood TS 830 @ TS 530 as well as others like the FT 101 and FT 102 radios.

Those of you that let your tech. like Docs work on your 2510 and SHIP your radios to him and pay him a price for his

work that he has determined to be fair, should not speak out

at another for what he has determined to be fair for his work.

I think its a Damn Shame that Greg let himself get suckered

into this crap, but that his mistake and he has to live with it..

FYI, Docs will be looking at my HR 2510 and for those that

may now have or are considering a Kenwood and I hope that

only the few that truly respect these Fine Radios will send

them to Greg and not butcher them up....

A person who is really passionate and loves what he does

will take exception to those that minimize the value of his

labor and love of what he does...

THINK about IT.......

Re: Thanks 821

Dealer

I know what you are going through. I can't believe whats going on all over the forum. Name calling, finger pointing, and hate seem to be running rampart lately. I for one am sick to death of it. This is the best radio forum on the internet BAR NONE. What makes it great is the amount of knowledge and experience we have at our fingertips, and what do we do with it? Throw it to the wind by accusing each other of crazy things just because we do not agree (sounds like Washington <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> ). I don't know whats happening to us but I wish everyone would take a deep breath and think about our fine men and women that are being shipped to the Persian Gulf to defend the very freedoms we all express here. O don't understand why some people can't post their feeling without being hateful or spiteful. Well I'm off to talk on my radio, (hey that is why we are all here isn't it?)

Re: Thanks 821

I don't believe that I suggested that anyone was a liar

in anyway regarding this or any other subject.

What I did say that accusing someone of being less than

forthright and for being a smart ass for not giving away

trade secrets is a little much don't people think?

There were more than one person posting in this thread and

and my comments were at the tone in general that if you (Greg)

don't give up the information that you are a bad guy for not

doing so.

foot777 seemed to have good command of the english language

in posting on other threads that it seem odd to me that he had

lost that when posting to this one.

That said, I believe that Greg stepped on his toes with his

last remarks But who of us have not done so at one time or

another ?

Regarding the frequency modification !

I have had it also with the Other modifications done to my

radio and I Believe that it could be reverse engineered by

myself ( I could be wrong of course ) and that I could post

it to the forum But I will not do so.....

Why you ask ? I believe that you have noticed the lack of

information on this radio available on the net ? and one of

the reasons I believe is that no one has before found a need

for it, as these radios generally would not appeal to the people

that are inclined to work 11 meters.

I know that Greg developed this modification for the hardcore

sidebanders that do in fact work the freebands as its called.

I understand he is Selling a product and I also understand

that the integrity of these radios needs to be protected.

If you have ever gotten your hands on a FT 101 that has been

butchered then you would see where I am coming from with

this attitude that I have regarding this matter, and it applies to

many Fine,Old,Radios as well.

Am I saying that you or anyone else here is a radio butcher,

No I am not.

If I were to reverse engineer this mod and publish it then would

I be obligated to do the same with Docs HR 2510 mods ??

These are CW and SSB radios only ( no AM ) and I do not

wish to devalue mine or anyone else radios.

IF someone wants one bad enough and is willing to do what

it takes to make one preform correctly then that person will

find the best way to do it and for me that was to let a professional do it right the first time, and to be educated in the

process of proper operation and maintaince of the equipment.

What does one do after he clips a wire and finds that the radio he just bought from e-bay has other problems as well ??

Take it or Ship it to the best known authorized Kenwood dealer in the country here in Irving,Texas ? I don't think so.....

Anyway, PEACE

73s
