I would have to say give the 2970 family of radios a hard look, even if you are limited to 100 watts, just get inside the radio and turn the power down to 100 watts max and there ya go.The radio will not pull any more amps than any other 100 watt radio.

Just because a radio can put out well over 100 watts doesnt mean you cant turn it down to the power limit you are after.Taking a radio that can put out 150 or more watts and backing down the output will allow the radio to run cooler and maybe last longer if you take the time to tune the radio and antenna properly

Just my thoughts for what it is worth

why not go with a used classic base - madison, washington, 142 gtl - and pick up a little 2 tube base amp.
all known for quality audio and great SSB performance.
a lot easier on the pocket, plus if you buy a beater, then you've got a project radio too.
we all need more projects...

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
