I don't think this problem is related to my amps ocastionaly keying on ssb when initialy depressing the Mic but this is another issue I'd l like to find out why is happening.
When using my Madison stock or with a low output amp (100-150 watts) the swr warning light will not flicker while modulating (AM only)
Swr never higher than 1.4:1 and that readings with the highest output amp I use.(Phantom). Readings are taken on External meters. I never use the Madison's internal swr meter.
Now the more wattage I put out to my antenna the warning light flickers brighter.
I've read these swr warning lights are cheap circuitry and not reliabel. the highest swr reading I get. Is 1.4:1 with the phantom on high power.
I notice the phantom in its low stage will get the warning light flickering very little while modulating. In medium it flickers more intensely and in high it flickers so intensely that it's almost steady on. Once again only while modulating.
I checked the swr with three different meters and all readings are negligible.
I'd like to know why this is happening.
My a99 at 12 ft off the ground and about 30 ft directly behind my radio room.
Could the higher the output be exiting my antenna and actually entering my radio and causing that warning light to flicker?
no Matter how high the dead key the light will not flicker or light up until I modulate.
I'd like to correct this and have the warning light stop flickering but if it's not a true warning It can flicker until it finally blows out.
if my meters are telling me my swr is fine does it mean it's fine?
Or should this light concern me? P.s. i made a video of this in action but couldn't download it. I did try. Thanks
