Thread bump.
I have two of these in my shack. They're designed to be "floaters". That is, pair them with whichever rigs I'm using at the moment. I just move them from spot to spot in the lineup and connect them to the transceivers.
As far as a sense antenna:
Noise is vertically polarized. I got hold of a McKay-Dymek DA-100 active antenna setup minus the whip...which I have to devise. I'm thinking about something around 36-48" long, plus a spring mount.
The DA-100 has a remote preamp and a control box which allows 0-30dB of amplification in 10dB steps, along with 0-20dB attenuation (same). I'll run a Mini Circuits 50 ohm power divider to feed the two units - might use a 4 port version and feed two HF receivers along with the 1026s.
One change I need to make is to add a Mute capability to the DA-100 in that when anything HF in the shack goes into transmit, power to the preamp module is removed.
