The compressor was a huge disappointment, the values that were used were very extreme. The Comp ratio at minimum was almost 8:1 (15k)and with a 500k pot making the only workable range at the bottom 1/4 of the pots range. Using the SSM2166 data sheet and EQPlus as a reference I tamed the compression ratio R3 and R28 to 1k and 200k for a minimum compression of 1:1 and a maximum of some where around a max of 12:1. A resistance of 45k would be around 10:1 so a 50k pot would be more ideal but it’s what I had on hand. I also changed the AGC cap from 22 uF to 1 uF and removed the delay portion to more closely match the EQPlus. Changed a few more caps to 10uF and it really makes the compressor way smoother and usable.
