I'm new to the board and have a question maybe you guys can answer. I've bought a pair of maxon 45cbw of the net b/c they can easily converted to 120 channels with just two soldering bridges. The problem is they work great for about 6 months and then just quit TX or RX. This has happened twice. What do you guys think of the new Midland 4001 anniversary model? I don't want to put a lot in another radio.

If you like it's features, looks, and price then it's the radio for you. However, IMHO it's an avg radio and a Uniden equivalent is just as good if not perhaps better. About the only modern-day Midland mobiles I would consider are the Powermax and the 79-290 SSB unit. You could spend some time on eBay and find a quality, used mobile selling for similar and walk away with a radio that has potential.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
