Mounting roof mount on new truck

If I mount my roof mount near the back of the cab will I still get good swr readings. The cab has ridges down the middle so I cant drill there!!

What kind of truck?

My CB antenna works just fine mounted on the rear area (about 6 inches forward from the third brake light) of my full size quad cab Chevy pickup.

2017 Ford 150 all aluminum.......... was it hard to get the brake light out?

My mount is a few inches in front of the brake light of my 97 Ram. No problems with swr. Seems to be slightly directional toward the front of the truck..no big deal though. Works well with the Sirio p5k or old school wilson 5k..
