MURS

Yeah, it sucks, all that is available are HT's. I have a pair of the Radio Shack 5 watt MURS mobiles that were on closeout a couple years back for like 20 bucks each. We run 151.940. I use a Discone for the Base and Radio Shack 5/8 wave 2 meter magmount cut for 151.940 on the vehicle. We get 10-15 miles base to mobile.

Probably the best way to go is get a VHF business band radio and reprogram it for MURS. I know, the legal eagles here won't like that idea, but nobody is rushing to produce type-accepted MURS bases or mobiles, so what is one to do? My FT-847 does MURS, too, sorry Jerry! <img src=http://www.wwdx.org/smilies/posticon40.gif ALT=":40">

my icom 706MKIIG and T90A HT as well as my kenwood THF-6A HT works well for MURS..

however is very rare i hear anyone on them..

is too bad...because of the frequency it works on..
MURS works much better for simplex then frs or gmrs..

It's picking up around here. Mostly among ham guys, though. If they had more radios available, I bet it would get going good.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
