I have a Bimbo 100 amp that emits a squeal from inside when you key up the radio. It only does it if the toggle switch is in the pep power position. The squeal is transmitted on the air and can be heard on the other parties radio.
No matter how far away I hold the mic, this amp squeals. What causes this and how can I fix it?
Also I have noticed if in the pep position, the SWR's are over 3, but if in the RMS, you can't even get a reading on the meter unless you blow or talk into the mic. It's almost as if you're on SSB but it does this on AM or FM.
Also I took an SWR reading of this set up with the amp off and the SWR's are good, so I know it's in the amp.
Can anyone please point me where to start? Thanx.
