can somebody who has done this mod to a 148 gtl explain how the mod is done cause it say - to base of tr41 and + to base of tr41
change c-109 to a 3.3 or 4.7uf
RemoveC174, and run a 1000uf cap from negative side of C174's position to the base of TR41, with the positive side of the 1000uf cap going to the base of TR41. Reset the AMC level for 100% modulation.

no problem.

when you remove C174 you will see a little "+" sign next to one of the holes indicating which hole is positive.

you are going to put the negative lead of your new 1000uF electrolytic cap in the other hole. which would be the negative hole.

the positive lead of the new 1000uF cap will connect to the Base lead of TR41, which is the lead closest to the back of the radio.

in the past i have put heat shrink tubing on the positive lead of the 1000uF cap and run it right through the notch in the PC board that the leads of TR41 go through.

when doing this mod, you might notice a "surge" on keyup that will quickly settle back to your normal deadkey reading.
this is not a squeal or anything, just a side effect of this particular mod.

good luck,
LC
