New cb

Hi all. New to this forum and new to cb's. I have a few questions. Hopefully someone can help. I'm looking to get a cb with ssb for my truck. What would be a good one? I was looking at a Texas Ranger TR 966. Is that a good one that I could tweak? I do alot of hunting with buddies and we are all getting cb's. Also I have an F150 with a tool box in the bed of the truck. Were would be a good place to mount an antenna? Don't want to mount the antenna to the hood area or on the roof of the truck. Any help and any other info you guys can help me with would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

That's a nice unit. You may also look at a Galaxy DX959, or see if you can pick up a Cobra 148 used or a Uniden Grant.

What are frequencie counters for? Is the Galaxy DX959 a good radio that I can tweak lare on?

I had a DX959 was a real good radio. Used in the mobile and as a base.

My 959 sucked on SSB. Good on AM. Maybe I had the wrong tech(Jonathan, at Pace. Sent it back a few times, he said" I've had quite a few come back" :x Gave up.

I used cobra 148 ,galaxy 959 ,uniden pc 122 i had the best luck with the pc 122 awsome compact little radio the 959 had lots of features but was dis satisfied with ssb on it

148, 2510, 2950 or uniden Grant would be my choice.
