Hello , I'm Steve in Northern Nevada . I'm also new to CB . I'm rebuilding a 78' Ramcharger SE that has an OEM Chrysler CB/AM/FM unit .It has been baked by the heat and is dried out . I haven't been able to get it to power up .
I was told on another site the CB section is a Panasonic but getting to it through the tuner section might as well be Rocket Science to me .
We tend to get well on the other side of nowhere (mountains, valleys) when we go Ghost Town hunting , it's not unreal to be 100+ miles out . Would a CB radio be of use , or are they more line of sight ?
Thanks ,
Steve

CB is effectively line of sight. It won't do 100 miles no matter how much power you shove into the antenna. In fact if you've got mountains inbetween you and who you want to talk to there's pretty much no solution that is guaranteed other than using repeaters on top of said mountains to relay.

However if you're wanting to talk amongst a group of you in the same area or you're in an area where there are no hills inbetween you and the other party then up to around 20 miles, CB is just fine for that.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
