Well, I've never even touched a CB radio before now, but I love working with old electronics and I've found an old CB radio. It's a Uniden PC 66, I'm not sure how old it is, probably 10+ years.

I set it up, got an antenna for it to find it doesn't work. The DX/RX light comes on, the light on the signal meter comes on, you can hear a very quiet staticy sound, i'm assuming it has a built in speaker. The signal meter doesn't move though, and the chanel display is blank. If anyone has any idea, or can point me in the direction of something that might help I'd appreciate it.

Check to see if the PA/CB switch is on PA. If so switch to CB then the ch display will light up. You will need a microphone wired for that radio plugged in for it to receive properly.

If the radio is already in CB mode, it's most likely a blown regulator.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
