So I finally got around to tuning my CB set up and couldn't get a decent SWR. I was wondering if I even have it set up right.

What is the wire that comes out of the bottom side? I grounded it, but now I'm thinking that I shouldn't have.

-Thanks

Tubig,
If you can't get a decent SWR then I think it's a pretty safe bet that something just isn't set up correctly. From there it can get a bit confusing without a little more information, and/or a picture would be nice too. There's a bunch of different Wilson antennas so a model number/name would make it a bit simpler to 'guess' at. Put yourself on the other end of that question and tell us what information would help you to figure out what's going on. See where I'm going with that?
About the simplest thing to try is to un-ground that wire, see what happens?

I can add pictures later today, but for now I'll try to describe it. It is a 4ft Wilson FGT Silver load antenna. The wire on the side looks like the one on the left:

It looks to be a 12-14 gauge wire, and that is the one I grounded.

1) the wire is grounded to the body of my car. I scraped away the paint on the body part to increase the ground connection. I also used a bullet connection so that it is easy to remove the antenna ( I have a QD for the antenna)

2)The antenna is mounted on the rear driverside on a mount made for the door hinge:
(not exactly my car, but same mount and location)

3) It's a single antenna set up.

4)-

5) 18' for the main coax and a 1' jumper

6)This is all mounted to my 07' Toyota FJ Cruiser

7)Yes, this was using an external SWR meter (CB is a Cobra 19)

Sorry for not giving enough info, and thanks for helping me out.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
