NMO Mount & Larsen 27MHz Antenna

Update. High SWR! The roof rack rails are metal, and I assumed they were directly attached / bolted to the metal roof, but they are not. The front and rear of the rails are connected to non-metallic base plates concealed by plastic covers, therefore the antenna mount is not grounded. Reinstalled the Stryker Mag Base Antenna and life is good!
Update #2. The primary problem of no ground is because of the paint on the rails and the paint on the NMO mount. The base plate for the rail is metallic. In lieu of removing paint from the rail and the antenna mount, I attached a short piece of 10 gauge wire from the antenna mount to the base mounting plate.

I punched a hole in the trunk lid of my commuter and have been running the laird twin to your antenna for several years no issues. I ran extra bonding straps to the lid on the hinge bolts and that made all the difference in the world. I like the nmo mounting style.
