An auction for wealthy retired hams who have nothing better to do than throw their money at things like this.
If I was wealthy, I doubt my new wife would be interested in HAM radio and neither would I. I'd be much to tired to spin the dial.
I'm not saying this one is related to it, but a few years back there was an SB-220 that was supposedly unbuilt and NOS. It made the rounds on several of the sale sites, and turned out to be bogus. It kept turning up on other sites over a couple of year period, and folks kept calling the guy out.
If I was a rich old ham op, I'd be looking at an Alpha or a Commander, and maybe a Tokyo HiPower mosfet unit. Or all three.

I am aware of the sb-220 that you speak of. It was on and off theifbay for a little over two years. the last time I seen it listed it was going for over 3500 bucks.
These unbuilt units are nothing more than moneymakers (or so they think) for these theifbay people. I have seen this with other units being sold and bought amongst themselves and they pat themselves on their back for their false inginuity. I was not aware that it proved to be bogus. It dosen't suprise me tho.
