I had one of the RCI 696FD1 which is the same radio just has a flag face and I got great reports all the time. very good on ssb where I used it most.

That's good to hear. I have been slowly paying one off on lay away.

uses the rci mm8719 pll, in order to add extra channels you need to source an older 8719 pll to swap in and remove a resistor from the 9th lead.

the bases are plauged by inadiquate power supplys.
