I have never seen this done, so would it hurt anything? I have seen anodized alumium for antenna's and was just wondering if a non epoxy paint was used would it do any harm to the characteristic of the antenna -performance wise?

Hello DX Man:

What type of antenna are wanting to paint? A Metal antenna or one with a figerglass radom on it?

You can a do a before and after painting S-Meter field strength tests with locals to see if any antenna performance has been lost.

The problems with metal or metalic Paint, is from painting fiber glass radomes with this metalic paint and the antenna behide a radom will not all the energy to pass thru it.

I know many guys who have painted there antennas to allow them to fade into the background, so that they are not as well noticed. Sometimes a antenna is painted to blend into the tree's and such. Submarines use a Camafloge paint skeem to hide there perascopes. Ought to work for antennas, or get your pump primed.

I know of many fiberglass antenna being painted with Kylron or Rustolum and didn't have any problems. Might have to go over them with a light touch of Scott Bright.

I have painted Predator antennas black gloss enamel a lot of times. I didn't check it with a field strength meter to see if it hurt the performance or not. The swr was as good after I painted it as it was before I painted it. It performed exactly the same. I painted a loaded coil black and red to match my truck and it made a good looking set up. Got pictures. Kale
