I've got decades of old cb radio gear stacked around my place.
Had a friend looking for a mobile tube rig.
I told him I knew I had a good working/looking Palomar 310m, basically a 12 volt skipper 300.
I dug it out and reading my info sticker on it, said: Works great, pre amp too, 3~400 out.
Sticker was dated too; 1995...
So I went to test it before getting it to the friend.........................
Squirrely, didn't put out power, two tubes didn't light up. WTF, lesson forgot.
Lesson learned years ago on a Palomar 300a...
Over time the aluminum chassis acts like the aluminum wiring in the old mobile homes that would catch on fire.
It squeezes out and loosens up the nuts and bolts holding the chassis to the components......
Lesson: When working on tube amps always check the tubes FIRST. On Palomars tighten all screws and nuts..
Then start checking it out.
