Couldn't agree more! That amp is true AB1, and the four 2879's will be easily driven by any radio. Even if you run a 4W radio, 4W will deliver 80W dk or 320W PEP. A typical export, runs 8 to 10W dk or 25W PEP SSB. This will give you 400W dk, and anywhere from 160 to 200W dk or 600W PEP or more modulated. That 25W PEP SSB will deliver minimum 500W PEP or more. Not too shabby! High drive amps are inherently more linear and cleaner than amps that require a driver.Stay away from the 667 and get a straight (non variable) Texas Star DX500 put a $10.00 fan setup on it over the heatsink and drive it with your radio you wont be dissapointed

Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned |
