I suppose I should know this, but can someone jog my memory as to the difference between a switched power supply and otherwise?

thx,

Moleculo

the conventional pwr supply has the big heavy transformer in it, and gives of trememdous gobs of heat. the switching supply basically has a clock timer in it that "switches " ac on and off and a desired rate or set point early ones were very noisy in an rf sense, most of the newer ones are pretty well filtered when designed for communications. they stil generate heat but don't even come close to the weight of a conventional supply. your'e computer has a switching supply in it. hope this helps, even though it's pretty simple explanation. 73

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
