Does anyone know approx, the stinger length (above the adjust point), or the overall length of the 12" single coil, when its resonate at 27.205

Counterpoise is what most people call the ground plane, typically the metal body of most vehicles. Where the antenna is in relation to the counterpoise (or the metal body) effects the tuning of the antenna as well as its radiation pattern.

Every vehicle is different. Every antenna is different. Every place you mount the antenna on the vehicle is different. The best thing to do is mount your antenna where you wish to run it and then tune it.

I don't know that I would personally trust an average, it will likely work but there are to many variables at play, and likely will not be the absolute best for your needs.

Cool, its on a steel 3/4" tube 16" tall, with a flat mounting surface of
2 1/5" x2 1/5" just above the cab. BUT the overall length is about 65"
I m gonna readjust. thanks

You may find that it may not tune on a stand like that, I could not get a monkey made to tune below 2.0:1 in that situation

same here i built a stand to mount a bracket to for a reciever hitch mount it never saw below a 2 swr

but i took a metal trashcan lid and it dropped to 1.2
so that told me i needed some metal under the antenna
and mounted it to the trunk lid no problem

stinger length will also vary with the shaft length below the coil

tuning and matching...where's Doc? LOL

i'll just say that trimming your antenna to improve match can detune your antenna. savvy?

i always look to increase capacitance to ground by proper bonding of vehicle body and body to frame first.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes

Wes, it's better if you start a thread on the main forum, more people are going to see your question.
