FWIW, the George already had one of the best receivers ever. Very quiet, yet capable of hearing the weakest signal. Somehow the ASC knows the difference between background noise and a legitimate signal.
IMO a properly working and tuned George should not need this, or any other mod. It was way ahead of it's time and even today stacks up against the best of them.
Other than the too-small knobs and only being able to tune in 5-KHz increments my only complaint about the George is the security code that has to be re-entered each and every time power was removed from the unit. Never have figured out a way to bypass that.
And where can I get an original stock mic for one?
