Was just curious if anyone has tried one of those competition type antennas such as a 55R4 or monkey made or something of that nature on a quad mag mount an if it will hold something that size.

Quad Magmount and 55R4

I run a quad magmount on both of or vans I have used several open coil antennas aswell as a 75 - 80 meter workman Ham stick antenna on the mounts. I use quick dissconnects and also put an adapter together for my wifes Wilson 5000 coil for the quad magmount aswell.
Ill tell you that actually you could use a tri-mag with same results I have got one of these and used it aswell. just put the tri-mag on so there are 2 magnets forward and one to the back (upsidedown trangle) that way when moving down the highway it has a stronger more stable hold.
