Hello

Nice radio! i have one made in 1987 as well that i talk on everynight instead of a base station.
Does yours work?

i've got mine dead keying .52 watts and swinging 14.32 watts witout any kind of modulation i can talk about 60 miles on it (and i'm in the heart of the georgia mountains

The whistler units had an extremely short production span, they were very prone to parts failures and came with many issues fresh out of the box. If you have one that works, then make the best of it. If it don't work, sell it as a door stop or throw it in the can.

mine works flawlessly

mine works flawlessly... other than the screens not coming in right till it has warmed up a bit but I'm sure thats because it's been like 20 years since it's been turned on lol

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
