just wondering what might cause this sounding great on my base setup but in the mobile gettin that " sounds kinda muffeld" radio check tried diffrent mikes diffrent mike gain settings running out of ideas??

not enough info
1 running a amp
2what type of mike,power ,stock,noicecancelling
radio could be over tuned ..dk set too high
if running a external amp too much drive into it will do this
what happens when ya turn down mic gain better/worse/same
what mode does this happen on am/fm/ssb?

i'm assuming from your brief post that the only thing changing between the base and the mobile is the (antenna) load presented to the transmitter. if so you have undecoupled rf floating around in the mobile. some more information regarding the mobile antenna might be helpful.
