I have a friend who has a 2970, he tried to wire up another mic and shorted something, now it is stuck in TX, even with mic unplugged,, anyone know if it could be a shorted TX transistor or something in that nature? it is stuck on TX and 26.000 mhz

Some of these models had a microprocessor reset button inside. Might have been the earlier 2950's only, not sure.

Try disconnecting from power, turn radio ON and leave for 1 minute. This will drain the capacitors inside. Reconnect & try out.

If that doesn't work, may need to go back inside radio and disconnect the CPU memory battery, again disconnected from power and turn rig ON and leave for 1 minute. Reconnect battery.

Also wait and watch this thread for other tips.

Hope you don't have a bad component.

Good luck

Hey Skybolt

If it has a reset button, should be on the same little board near the front of the radio behind the face/display. It's the same board the 2 or 3 sets of pins are on that you change the jumper to do the conversion for 11 meters.

good luck

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
