RCI 2970n2 Heat Shield

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the heat shield on the bottom of the 2970n2? A couple of the little tabs that snap into the heat sink that hold the shield in place are broken off. I called radioshopsupply to see if I could get another one ordered, but it will be a super inter-galactic order from overseas just to get it.

Can you drill and tap some holes and use small machine screws like 8-32 to secure it?

Not sure yet. I will have to check it out on the bench at home. I did find out that the Galaxy 98VHP uses the same shield, except it has GALAXY embossed into it, instead of RANGER. I might have better luck locating one of those though...

BTW the space shuttle has a heat shield. Your radio has a heat sink.

you could always switch to liquid cooling using some cpu coolers.

Are you sure that these "Heat Shields" aren't just insulators?

Well, I just found out from Ranger that the heat shield from the Galaxy 98VHP is the same exact part number, but may have the Galaxy logo stamped into it. Barkett Electronics stocks these for $7 plus shipping.
