I need some advice on a RCI-2980 that is suffering from very low receive on AM/SSB/CW but is fine on FM. I haft to turn the volume all the way up on AM/SSB/CW to here anything. I did notice that if ya turn the mode nob the switch noise is loud. Everything else on this radio works fine.

This 2980 is unmolested, Serial No.734298 1 owner bought bran new many years ago, has a EPT3600 series board in it. The problem developed over about 4 months, slowly getting lower and lower receive. No mods have been done to this radio.

I am new to repairing radio's so any help would be apreceated about what part/parts i should replace.

Thank you for your time.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
