RCI 2990 ground noise?

I've notice that my 2990 picks up considerably more ground noise on my Imax 2000 with ground kit, than my other radios. If I put my President Madison base in line, for example, I have a much quieter radio, which means I can hear a lot better 25 miles and out. I wonder if the 2990 noisy by design, or if it was adjusted this way. The radio was used when I got it. I haven't tried grounding it, yet. Any comments or suggestions?

A couple of things, W-I-D-E filtering, and way too much gain in the front end.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
